About this event
Tidewater Sports Car Club Welcomes You to The Premier Motorsports Club of South East Virginia Since 1953.
Gripfest 2025 - June 7th at North Carolina Center For Automotive Research (NCCAR)
The Tidewater Sports Car Club (TSCC) Gripfest event is a standing start, flying finish track attack style event. Drivers will be competing against the clock. This event is not part of the TSCC annual points championship and is not a normal autocross style event. The format is a blending of road course and autocross - it is a race against the clock to complete your run, but no cones are present - the track is the course. Competitors will take off from a standing start, perform one lap of the course, and cross a finish line before exiting the course and pulling back into grid. The day will be broken into several heats based on the number of participants and divided into 2 sessions; a morning session and an afternoon session. All competitors will be given runs in both sessions.

Event requirements
Classing and Heats:
Click Here for the Classing Calculator to Determine Your Class
Competition is open to any street or race legal car provided it meets the same basic safety requirements as an autocross plus our Supplemental Time Trial Rules (below). As the speeds are generally expected to be higher than our normal events extra attention will be paid to the safety and maintenance of vehicles entered for competition. Right seat instruction is not provided at this event. The Vice President of Operations reserves the right to adjust the classing of a vehicle, despite what the calculator may output, to maintain a balance of fair competition.
Multiple drivers in the same car will not be allowed in the same heat. We are aiming to keep the heats small to maximize track time and minimize time on worker stations. Only two drivers per car, one per session. All drivers must register to run in this event.
Registration will be capped at 60 Participants!
If you are Wait-listed, then you will not be charged for the event until confirmed. By remaining on the wait-list, you are acknowledging you may be admitted/charged at any time. You must cancel your registration if you wish to be taken off the wait-list.
Vehicle Tech and Safety:
All open top vehicles will be required to have proper roll over safety gear in place this includes all convertible cars and all open top vehicles must pass the broom stick test. *Note a hard top for a Miata or S2000 does not meet the minimum requirement for roll over protection.
All TSCC Time Trial Supplemental Rules will apply. Read these rules in their entirety. Information on proper harness mounting and broom stick test procedures are contained within.
Go-karts, motorcycles, and trikes are not allowed to run in this event. We are allowing open wheel cars and formula cars to run. Cars that are not production based, please contact us before you register to verify if your vehicle will be allowed.
You must have a SNELL SA Rated Helmet (SA2020 or 2015) or current FIA rated helmet. DOT, ECE, SNELL M, and other certifications are not sufficient. Some loaner helmets will be available on a first come first serve basis.
